Our Philosophy
Ordinary people making ordinary things extraordinary.
We believe that when rural women have the rightful opportunities to leverage their skills and talents and gain financial independence, they can transform their communities and pave the way for better outcomes for future generations––particularly the girl child.
Our mission is to make kind and socially rooted lifestyle products that directly combat climate change and environmental pollution.
All our products are made from non-biodegradable fabric waste sourced from textile factories, thus preventing them from ending up in in our soil, rivers and oceans.
Madhu, Ordinaire & the Dosa Story
"When I was little, all the burnt or dry dosas were eaten by my grandmother, mother and me. My father, brother, uncles and grandfather would have the soft, fluffy dosas.
When I would ask why, my grandmother would say it was because the men had to go out to work hard, and that my younger brother needed the strength to become like them in the future.
Today, I tell myself––"I run Ordinaire, I work too, even if it means stitching from home or from our little unit." So I make myself soft dosas. Regardless, women should always have the softest dosas ever and not choose anything lesser. That itself is a way of standing up for ourselves."
